So our man has had a week to warm up and I've put the acid on him this weekend to lift! Last weekend's Lock of the Week Artlee had every possible hope, getting the perfect run in transit before finishing a disappointing 3rd. The Look of the Week was Atlantis Dream. She was out the back in a farcically slowly run affair and hit the line to run... 4th! That's always the way with each way bets, isn't it. Finally, the Leave of the Week was successful with Hauraki continuing on his feline way, running 2nd in the Doomben Cup after looming up to win yet again!
Now on to this week. It's time to find out if our man is better with a run under his belt, or his first up effort was a sign of what's to come. Let's cross our fingers for the former!
Lock of the Week - Best Bet
Morphettville Race 7 - Voodoo Lad - $2.00
"My Lock of the Week is Voodoo Lad in Race 7 at Morphettville. $2 is very skinny but he should be saluting. He won very impressively at Warrnambool over the carnival when he was backed as if unbeatable and was proven to be so. He looks perfectly placed with 54kg in this race and is proven on wet ground. Hard to go past."
Look of the Week - Best Each Way Bet
Doomben Race 4 - Junoob - $6.00/$2.15
"The Look of the Week is Junoob in Race 4 at Doomben. He was an eye catcher 2nd up, hitting the line hard late over 2000m. With the extra 200 metres in his favour and the fact that he meets the winner from that race, Real Love, marginally better at the weights, he looks a safe each way bet at $6.00. It's also interesting to note that Blake Shinn has elected to ride Junoob over Rudy who he was victorious on last start."
Leave Of the Week - Let's Get One Beaten!
Doomben Race 7 - Azkadellia - $2.80
"Now this might leave me with egg on my face, but I believe the Leave of the Week is star mare Azkadellia in the Doomben 10,000. There is no doubt she is the best horse in this race, but to my eye there isn't a great deal of speed on paper outside of Two Blue which puts her at a disadvantage given her racing style. It has been well publicised that her main aim is the Stradbroke in a fortnight's time and as such, she may be vulnerable here. I can see her hitting the line hard, but with not much speed on paper and the skinny odds of $2.80 they're ofering, I'm willing to take her on."
