Our man in the field rates himself as a bit of a form guru, so I've laid down the challenge and asked him to provide us with his best bet (lock of the week), best each way bet (look of the week) and best lay of the day (leave of the week) each Saturday from here on in. We will be keeping track of how he goes each week, with his results posted along with his weekly write up. So, on to week one!
Lock of The Week
Doomben Race 5 Darley Sprint - Artlee $2.80
"Artlee is the best of the day. He's peaking now 4th up from a spell. He put in an eye catching run last week over 1200m and is up to 1400m now where his record is fantastic (4/6). Coming back to a Quality from WFA he drops from the 58.5kg he carried in the Group 1 BTC Cup last week to 55.5kg in a Group 3 this week. He looks the bet of the day Australia wide!"
Look of The Week
Morphettville Race 5 Robert & Fay Gerard R A Lee Stakes - Atlantis Dream $4.80/$1.90
"My best each way bet is Atlantis Dream. She's been racing in super form this prep and looks close to a win following four placings at her past four starts. Importantly, she has race fitness on her side where other horses in the market might might not be 100% wound up 1st up, such as Alpine Eagle, Tall Ship and Prince Of Penzance. When you look at her 3.5L defeat in the Group 1 Myer Classic behind horses like Politeness and Fenway, the 55.5kg she will carry in this event looks luxurious."
Leave Of The Week
Doomben Race 7 Hardy Brothers Doomben Cup - Hauraki $3.20
"My lay of the day is Hauraki. You have to start questioning his desire to win after a few recent efforts where he has loomed up and looked all over the winner but failed to deliver the killer blow. Blinkers on for the first time could either switch him on and make him attack the line, or backfire and get him over racing. I'm hoping for the latter!"
