Racing on this Wednesday comes from Murray Bridge, Warwick Farm and Warnambool, where it is the 2nd day of their annual 3 day carnival. Our bets only come from Murray Bridge today, as Warwick Farm and Warnambool are both cards with big fields, races with a number of chances and will both be on wet tracks. No doubt Warnambool in particular will be good to watch, but it might be smart to leave some money in your pocket throughout the carnival!
Murray Bridge
The track is rated a Good (3) at the time of writing with some rain forecast for Tuesday. It shouldn't get too wet but watch the weather between now and Wednesday. The rail is out +3m from the 840m to the winning post, out +3m from the winning post back to the 1500m, and in the true for the remainder of the course.
The track tends to play to on pace runners as it is, so with the rail out it may pay to be with those who will settle in the first few.
Race 3 1206m Hotelier's Race Day 18 May - Book A Table Now SABOIS Maiden Plate
Two-Years-Old and Upwards. Maiden. No sex restriction. Set Weights.
Never Without You and Amintire should go forward with Splash Of Cristal and Bettydee handy also.
The trial of Model Dragon was very impressive. She was slow out and rounded the field up and ran away to win by over 3 lengths pretty much untested. I doubt you'll get much value for her here, but if her trial is anything to go buy she should have lengths on these.
Never Without You was okay 1st up from a spell when running 3rd to Brimarvi Equiada over 900m at this track. The 1200m suits him better here.
Amintire and Londostar both come through the same race, running 2nd and 3rd respectively to Alberdini here over 1200m. Both horses should improve in to this and be competitive again.
Advice: Off the back of her impressive trial Modern Dragon looks to be the one to beat here. Never Without You looks the biggest danger.
Race 4 2210m Carlton Draught / SABOIS Plus Handicap
No age restriction. BenchMark 60. No sex restriction. Handicap.
Go Carol Go, Man She's Fast and Belle Of The South should be the ones looking to head towards the lead. There doesn't look to be much speed outside of that.
Go Carol Go ran well on pace when 2nd at this track and trip on the 20th of April. The winner in that race got right up on the fence, which is where you wanted to be that day. She will press forward from her wide barrier and with very little speed in the race she should be able to get there easily. She will carry 53.5kg after the claim for Georgina Cartwright which helps her.
Artful Diva has been racing in harder company than this and should appreciate the drop in grade here. She will definitely run the trip out, but from barrier 11 she should get back in the field and it will take a good ride from Zac Spain to slot her in a good position in running. She has to carry 57kg here also, giving weight to some of the other key hopes.
Cool Target won his Maiden nicely 1st up at Strathalbyn over 1600m before running 11th beaten 13L in the Port Adelaide Guineas. This is a much more realistic target for him and he should get a good run in transit from barrier 4.
Belle Of The South ran okay in the same race as Go Carol Go last time out and is a chance again in this with 51kg on her back. Man She's Fast won her Maiden last time and must be considered a chance again.
Advice: Go Carol Go was very good in running 2nd last time and I think she can go one better here. Artful Diva and Cool Target are back in grade and are clearly her main dangers.
Our Bets
Murray Bridge
Race 3 - Modern Dragon - 3 unit win
Race 4 - Go Carol Go - 1 unit win
Other Bets to Consider
Race 1 - Svendita - 1 unit win
In a race with little exposed form hers seem to be the best so far. Has drawn the outside gate in a field of 8 which can be tricky though.
Race 2 - Topfox - 1 unit win
She showed a bit of talent with a good 2nd on debut to Cayman Dayze at Oakbank. Backed up at her 2nd start a week later which I'm not a fan of and ran poorly. Freshened up and at 1000m here she can definitely win.
Race 6 - Flow Meter - 1 unit win
He loves the track (3:2-1-0) and the distance (15:4-2-4) and has been good at his last two. The only query here is that he will carry 60kg and gives other runners between 2.5kg & 9kg here, some of which are in good form also.
*Prices are as they appear on Sportsbet at time of writing*
